Tarot for Self-Care: How to Use Tarot to Manifest Your Best Self by Minerva Siegel

I took a class on Tarot and super interested in it — would love to have more time to learn more but in the interim loved reading Tarot for Self-Care: How to Use Tarot to Manifest Your Best Self by Minerva Siegel.

What made you create this book ?

So many books on tarot are based on archaic, gatekeeping practices and ideology. I wanted to create an accessible guide to reading tarot for the modern reader. I got rid of the needless gendering of tarot cards to make the practice non-binary and more inclusive, and centered the book around my unique ideas on how to use tarot as an important self-care tool.

How long have you been doing Tarot?

I’ve been reading tarot for years, but I started seriously practicing witchcraft when I was thirteen, and became interested in various forms of divination soon afterward. Learning how to read tarot seemed daunting to me at first, though, so it’s only within the last five years or so that I’ve gotten serious about it, and made it a daily habit.

How do you want people to use the book ?

I want people to use the book in whatever ways work for them! I wrote it as a guide for both beginners and advanced practitioners alike. In it, I’ve interpreted all the tarot cards in both orientations (upright and reversed), so it can be used as an interpretation reference guide. It’s also full of self-care tips and activities that can be incorporated into daily or weekly self-care routines.

How often should people use the book ?

There aren’t any rules! Use it whenever you intuitively feel called to.

What is the future of Tarot ?

The future of tarot is non-binary and accessible. We’re done with traditional, arbitrary, gate-keeping rules about who can read tarot, and under what circumstances. Tarot is for everybody.

How did you design the book ?

I helped design all the tarot card illustrations in Tarot for Self-Care to ensure they’re inclusive and non-binary while still staying true to the originally intended symbolism.

Is this your first book authored ?

I self-published a little chapbook of poetry last year, but Tarot for Self-Care is my first major publication!
