Five years ago, a college graduation trip to Costa Rica turned into a life-changing business venture for two Southern California friends, Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman. Between the stunning sunsets and the rolling waves, it was not long before these two friends began to appreciate the simple lifestyle of the people they encountered. This is the story of how it all began…While traveling through Costa Rica, Griffin and Paul crossed paths with two bracelet peddlers named Jorge and Joaquin. The colorful handmade bracelets seemed to capture the essence of their journey. At the time Jorge and Joaquin were living in poverty. They slept with their family in a single crammed room with three beds. After seeing this, Griffin and Paul asked Jorge and Joaquin to make 400 bracelets to take home with them. No one would have expected for this casual encounter to grow into the successful partnership that it is today.Upon returning home to San Diego, California, Griffin and Paul placed the bracelets in a bowl at a local boutique. Within days the bracelets sold out and everyone was asking for more. Griffin and Paul soon recognized the significance of these simple string bracelets. It was more than just an ordinary friendship bracelet… it was a movement symbolizing the simple things in life.“Pura Vida” is Spanish for “pure life”, a Costa Rican philosophy that encourages the appreciation of life’s simple treasures. Slowing things down, celebrating good fortune, and refusing to take anything for granted embodies this laidback lifestyle. “Pura Vida” means choosing to live life to the fullest. It’s more than just a saying… it’s a lifestyle.Every Pura Vida Bracelet is carefully handcrafted by artisans in Costa Rica. The commitment to their craft is conveyed through the quality of their work. The artisan’s dedication to the “pura vida” way of life is demonstrated in the seemingly endless color combinations and innovative styles. Each bracelet is as unique as the person wearing it.Founders Griffin and Paul partnered with Jorge and Joaquin in hopes of spreading the “pura vida” spirit with others. Today Jorge, Joaquin, and 100+ of their amigos hold full-time jobs thanks to Pura Vida Bracelets. When Jorge and Joaquin first met Griffin and Paul, they were only selling a few bracelets a week. Now the bracelets are worn by people around the world and serve as a tangible reminder to slow down and live in the moment. http://www.puravidabracelets.com/collections
I love the two I have : my new “Ohm Charm” as a daily reminder to stay calm and stress free ! and I have this other black bar bracelet.
Speaking of taking time to reflect and appreciate I really love all the beautiful trees from my house window – when we first moved in it was so stressful – I was so upset everything was going wrong from no hot water to no AC to a million other issues but slowly everything came together and now I can appreciate and love my house. I never thought things would get settled but slowly it all came together – so like PURA VIDA says appreciate life …. and I say Claudine just take a breathe !
All my money is in my business so I don’t have much these days to spend on extracurricular activities but it was so lovely I was gifted two tickets to see les Liasions Dangereuses with the amazing Janet McTeer and we will admit we love Liev Schreiber because we are huge RAY DONOVAN fans so it was and have seen him in several other films and loved this – he is an incredible actor and the play was amazing – it was a thriller, a romance and it was captivating! It was so lovely to take my mother to the theater and have some mother & daughter bonding time.
The other day I noticed this on the street by DAVID DATUNA I missed the other side said ONE and had all the hands together – I was so stumped by this it had messaing from the campaign trail tons of awful slanderish items to show how our country is so divided and a bit messed up right now … and then the other side shows ONE – the place I wish we could be – personally I am not sure if we will get there without keeping President Obama in office for four more years or have Michelle Obama run or lets vote in Bernie Sanders….
Scott and I went to the #foodpornfest and indulged in incredibe foods we are always finding amazing street art on our Bushwick journeys I especially loved these pieces we saw along the way
