NYRR rules and my first 5K around Roosevelt Island – training to run a half marathon in a year

My goal is to run a half marathon at least by next year.  I want to take it slow so I don’t mess up my knees and my husband is being so supportive really trying to show me some great techniques on how to pace yourself and really excel each time. Right now I am running about 3 miles at 5.5 – 6.0 so I am hoping to speed that up a bit. I have been trying to run at least 4 to 5 times a week. If you stay consistent my husband says for 9 times straight and then you either grow the length of time you are running or quicken your pace – so I am trying to do that. The NYRR is so organized and we are planning to run another 5K in November – the day before the marathon through Central Park. DSC08561 DSC08560
