FACTORY FLOOR AT MANUFACTURE NYC HOLIDAY SHOPPING EVENT

One of the things that inspires me the most is a sense of community !!

It makes me so happy to see:

* PEOPLE WORKING TOGETHER

*PEOPLE HELPING EACH OTHER

*PEOPLE MAKING THEIR DREAMS COME TRUE

*PEOPLE GOING FOR THE GOAL – THE BIG IDEA – BELIEVING ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

A woman  I truly respect has helped with all the above and more with her brainchild – MANUFACTURE NY which I finally had the chance to visit this weekend – it is a mastermind.

She believes that it will be possible for more production in NYC – which means more jobs and more creativity. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/10/fashion/manufacturer-new-york-provides-production-facilities-to-independent-designers.html

Right now she is working with MADE IN NYC to put on a holiday gift showcase called FASHION ON THE FACTORY FLOOR and it started this week and will go through next week – it is filled with great designers, fun stories and lots of great gifts. http://factoryfloorbrooklyn.com/

November 30 – December 1

10AM – 6PM Jennifer Wiese from Workroom Social demonstrates garment construction techniques, zipper installation methods, and seam finishes live on the Factory Floor. Get a taste of the Workroom Social experience by signing up for fabric belt-making, held one-on-one or in small groups throughout the weekend, $25 per person.

10AM – 6PM Lenore Solmo from BeadSpa will demonstrate jewelry-making in three distinct styles, using wire wrapping, gemstone application, beading, charm-making and other processes. Also, sign up for her jewlery-making workshops Saturday or Sunday at 11AM, 1PM and 3PM so you can bring home your own creation!

If you missed it this week go next week and support some local amazing designers.

I was so caught up in conversation I didn’t take as many photos as I should have but definitely check out

Kimberly Goldson’s amazing tribute to the Brooklyn Bridge with this beautiful suit

Shana Luther has these amazing bags in these beautiful rich colors

My friend Sylvia Heisel is selling 3-D iphone customized cases that are so cool

Nora Gardner has a really beautiful collection and is super sweet

I learned about BEAD SPA  – Lenore is starting a fun bead party concept that can come to your house – what is more fun then cool projects you can do with your friends – like making a beaded necklace or bracelet from crystals and other really cool items

RYU RYU is another super cool collection

I thank Josh Eichen for initiating such a great event – of course the work of Nanette Lepore and Erica Wolf of Save the Garment Center and all the awesome people at EMERGING DESIGNER.  Learn more here – http://madeinnyc.org/ and http://www.savethegarmentcenter.org.
