I have been so fortunate to work with a ton of amazing talent this year to dress them for all sorts of events, press junkets, photo shoots etc. I love it when actresses and musicians can tell others about the designers they are wearing because this creates buzz for my designer friends. The information they share whether it is about their new projects, what designer they are wearing, what they are listening too, and very important – what they support can make people discuss and get involved. When talent use their voice and influence it helps so much – they are influencers.
I have been lucky to work with Carrie Preston from one of my favorite shows TRUE BLOOD and also THE GOOD WIFE (love Dan Lawson, their brillant costume designer) a couple of times getting her ready for different happenings. I love telling her about all the different designers and groups like RENT THE RUNWAY that we get to work with for events. THis time we went to THEIA’s showroom to find something for her to wear for the event she was a part of this week.
She was attending a benefit to help raise money for an organization called LOVE 146. The subject of the organization is very serious and does exist around the globe. We chatted about it for a little bit but obviously it is just a very disappointing and sad subject that needs attention. It is so important that actors and musicians help and spread the message about organizations that are trying to make our world a better place. Carrie educated me about this organization and if you get a moment you should watch some of their videos. They are very sad but they are a reality and we need to help fight this battle.
A little bit about Love146-
Love146 works toward the abolition of child sex slavery and exploitation through Prevention and Aftercare.
Children are being trafficked and raped daily. Slavery is one of the darkest stories on our planet. This physical, mental and emotional trauma can leave children broken and scarred for life. Interventions for these children are critical to their survival and restoration. The hope of abolition is a reality today.
This is why Love146 exists.
