MY FIRST DJ GIG

I want to thank all my friends & family for coming – you are all so awesome and I love you! It is times like this you realize how many awesome friends you are lucky to have and that is who I need to surround myself with – positive friends and positive energy.  Thank you for always being there for me in good times, great times and challenging times.  You are so awesome !!

I recently djed an opening fashion week party for Style 360 with ELLE magazine for joonbug.com.  It was also a farewell party for Ugly Betty and Mark Indelicato, Vanessa Williams, Ana Ortiz and other cast members joined us for the party.

Also a few of my other favorite ladies came out … Roxy Olin, Kelly Bensimon and Shanae Grimes… awesome girls with awesome style !!

Oh and my teenage crush – Ralph Macchio came out as well – so funny I had a poster on my door at home when I was teenager and I used to kiss the poster every night before I went to sleep. Crazy !!! Now he is listening to me dj! Life is pretty rad.

Prior to the event, I decided I wanted to do something different then just play some tunes and I wanted to associate “my set” with fashion. I interviewed twenty of my favorite designers and I asked them their favorite tunes that they listen to when they are designing their collections.  So many interesting answers.  I picked about ten of them since I only had a thirty minute set and then all the songs Mike made into a mix which everyone can download off my blog – www.caravangirl.com.

I love the designers that participated from Lorick to Walter to my mentor, YEOHLEE.  I plan to do this again for the award shows – ask actors what songs they listen too in order to get excited.

I was really happy with my first dj gig – I thought I was going to be nervous but I was actually so happy – I had so many awesome friends in the audience starting with my husband, Brian screaming ‘go baby’ to my best friends and family.

I rocked an All Saints dress ( my favorite brand right now !) I love it.  It was a very cool Tim Burton esque kimono like dress and had some hearts on it which was cool to get me in the mood for the next day which was Valetine’s Day!

I say to everyone who wants to try djing or sky diving or belly dancing — go for it… keep your life FUN and just believe in yourself and try to surround yourself with people that inspire you.

I was super excited to be a part of this article by the way ….
